International Symposium on Housing Affordability and Market Stability Held at Tsinghua University
The International Symposium on Housing Affordability and Market Stability was held at Tsinghua University during Mar. 25 - 27, 2009. Jointly organized by the Social and Affordable Housing Department of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China, the School of Architecture Tsinghua University, the Editorial Board of Housing Studies, and School of Built Environment of Heriot-Watt University under the sponsorship of Housing Studies Foundation and China Merchants Property Development Co., Ltd, this symposium aimed at providing a platform for the scholars to exchange their studies on housing and an opportunity for the foreigners to have a deeper understanding about housing development in China. Hundreds of guests from government departments, research institutes and universities, planning and design firms, and real estate companies attended this symposium and 23 experts and scholars from Australia, India, Netherlands, Japan, Russia, Korea, England, American and China presented their works, introducing the experience of housing development in different countries and discussing the housing issue from the aspects of society, economy, policy, administration and so on with great interest in China. A student forum on housing study, theory and practice was also conducted for young students to encourage them to concentrate on housing study.
