Chinese Academy of Sciences Issues Report on China's Modernization in 2005: Gap between China and America on Economic Modernization Level is A CENTURY
The report shows that based on the comparison of three indexes of GDP per capita and the like, the comprehensive year gap in terms of the economic modernization level between China and USA in the year of 2001 is about 100 years, while 80 years' gap when compared with Germany, 50 years' gap with Japan, and 30 years' gap with Portugal.
It is predicted in the report that China will reach the medium level of economic modernization in the first 50 years of the 21st century, and will reach advanced level in the second half of the 21st century, listed in the top 10 countries in the world. By 2080, China is hopeful to become a developed country.
The report also shows that in the first half of the 21st century, the economic modernization of China will face three bottlenecks of economic quality, economic structure, and international economic competitive force, with the "first priority" being to improve the economic quality.
