Urban Landscape Ecology: Process, Impact, and Sustainability
This book consists of 7 chapters. Firstly, based on the scientific concept of landscape sustainability, the book proposes an urban landscape sustainability research framework of “process-impact-sustainability,” establishes a methodological system for obtaining large-scale urban landscape process information based on nighttime light data, and introduces the system correction method, saturation correction method, and comprehensive classification processing method of nighttime light data. Secondly, from the perspective of multi-scale landscape analysis, the book reveals in detail the basic patterns and process characteristics of China’s urbanization level, urban expansion, urban scale-ranking, urban sprawl, and urban surface permeability of the past 30 years. Furthermore, making a comprehensive use of remote sensing, geographic information system, and model simulation method, the book utilizes different temporal and spatial scales to show the impact of China’s urban landscape evolution process on the natural habitat, net primary productivity of cultivated land, and surface temperature. In the end, the book conducts a quantitative assessment on the basic conditions of the urban environment, the well-being of the residents, and the human-environment system in China’s urbanization process in the past 30 years. With a complete structure, detailed and accurate data, and a large number of case studies, this book may serve as reading material and provide reference for researchers and university teachers and students in the fields of geography, ecology, land science, urban planning, etc.
